Small-business financial operations, for owners who want the numbers to make sense.

I help small businesses keep their financial cycle connected: clean books, reliable payroll, tax-ready records, and plain-English clarity about what is actually happening in the business.

What this practice does

Most small businesses end up with the money side scattered across different tools, different people, and different conversations. Payroll runs in one place. The books live somewhere else. Tax comes up once a year as a surprise. Nobody connects the pieces, and the owner is left guessing about what is actually going on.

JJE Business Ops keeps the full financial cycle clean, connected, and understandable.

  1. Payroll

People are paid correctly, payroll taxes are handled through a proper platform, and labor costs become visible in the books — not hidden in a separate system the owner never sees.

  2. Books

Payroll and other activity flow cleanly into the accounting records. Accounts reconcile every month. Reports actually make sense and reflect what happened.

  3. Tax readiness

Clean books and payroll records throughout the year mean year-end is less chaotic and filings are more reliable — whether the return is prepared here or handed to your existing preparer.

  4. Owner clarity

A regular walkthrough in plain English, so you understand what happened, what matters, and what decisions deserve attention. This is the difference between having books and having useful books.

Who this is for

Small business owners who want the business to make sense and are willing to follow a structured system. The work fits especially well for small service businesses, counseling and professional practices, contractors with manageable complexity, and local operators with small teams who want one trusted person handling the back-office financial side instead of three.

It's a low-volume, high-attention practice. I work with a small number of clients at a time, on purpose.

Probably not a fit if you're shopping for the cheapest possible option, you only need tax prep once a year, you want unlimited text-message access without scheduled time, or you'd prefer to ignore the system and have someone clean it up later.

How we work together

Most engagements start with a one-time cleanup project to baseline the books, then move into a recurring monthly relationship that runs the connected cycle described above. Some clients begin directly on monthly work if the books are already in reasonable shape.

Pricing depends on the size and complexity of the business and the scope of what's included. The first conversation is a no-cost call to talk through what you have, what's working, what isn't, and whether there's a fit. Quotes come after that, not before.

About

I'm Jeremy Einsweiler. I've spent my career in public accounting, working across cleanup, reconciliation, payroll, tax, and the practical reality of helping owners understand what their numbers are telling them. I started JJE Business Ops to build a smaller, more direct practice — one where you talk to me, the work gets done carefully, and you actually understand what's happening with your money.

Before this practice, I helped build a counseling business from scratch that's now operating at capacity — which is where the conviction that good financial operations should be plain-spoken and connected to real decisions came from.

Based in Cumberland, Maryland. Working with clients across Western Maryland and the surrounding region.
